Strange times we live in
GM is gone...
Unemployment is between 18 to 25% (the real numbers)...
The President is calling for a nationalized youth corp program that is mandatory...
The dollar is practically worthless...
Banks are insolvent and are being bailed out by the taxpayers, who get nothing when they become insolvent except a Marsha's visit to ensure they get kicked to the curb...
The police force has become surly and mean to the citizens...
We've had our own Reichstag fire (911), which created our own Gestapo (Homelad Security)
Survelliance of the citizens is everywhere, in every place, soon to be in the homes (just watch)
And we are fighting a two-front war, albeit overseas...
All of the above - and more - has a familiar, historical ring to it, yeah? Sure, Germany in the 1930s. It's almost carbon-copy the same thing, just the order of magnitude and a few spelling changes like Fatherland became Homeland and all that. Outside the United States, America is looked upon the same way as Germany was under Hitler, as an evil nation ruled by evil people.
Was talking about this with a realtor yesterday and all he could do was shake his head and mutter, "we live in strange times, Don..."
Indeed.
